I have been a practicing psychotherapist in Austin since 2014. The reason I love being a therapist and doing the work I do is because I genuinely love connecting with people who have decided to take a very vulnerable and hard step. I also love doing the work that I do because I've been there. Saying "yes" too much? Check. Moving around and having to settle down all over again? Been there, done that. Trying to do everything perfectly? Not necessary. Feeling so anxious that you're missing out on the present? Mhmm... Overthinking every single thing? "Brain: remember that one embarrassing memory from 5 years ago?" Oh yeah, let's rehash that again.
By working on letting go of control, not reflecting my insecurities onto others, loving myself, and learning to laugh more, I was able to work through my anxieties and struggles. This whole adulting thing can be super hard sometimes, but learning how to cope with it in a healthy manner while appreciating the small things in life just feels so much better.
